Principles

From the core beliefs come the following seven operating principles used in stewarding Inflooent.

01

Business is ministry.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations...” Jesus commissioned every disciple with this mission in Matthew 28. As the marketplace is where most men spend half their awake time, it is absolutely a place of ministry.

02

Jesus owns it.

Jesus shared the parable of the talents in Matthew 25. The story frames a proper understanding of roles, faithfulness, and stewardship for business men of influence in the marketplace. Jesus owns it all.

03

Profit is good.

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” When men of influence in the marketplace treasure Jesus as Lord and, by extension, the great commission as their mission in business, profit is good. Profit is a resource for viability to be on mission. And good means prioritizing reinvestment in the business, the local church, and parachurch ministries. Executive hobbies and generational wealth-building are not priorities for profit.

04

Be humble.

Philippians 2.3 calls for doing nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. There’s no better principle for honoring God, serving others, and fostering mutual trust.

05

Work heartily.

Colossians 3.23 calls for working heartily as for the Lord and not for men. That’s important because it focuses the work on the highest of standards...God himself. Everyone wins.

06

Use discipline.

Hebrews 12.11 calls for discipline because of the fruit it renders. Disciples working on mission renders fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

07

Enjoy the work.

Ecclesiastes 3.13 says that God has gifted us pleasure in the toil of work. He reaffirms it in v22. It’s a choice of mindset. While not all work at all times delivers pleasure, the Holy Spirit gives power to receive the gift.

Beliefs

The Bible is the inerrant word of God, instructive for living in righteousness. God is one existing in three persons: Father, Son, Spirit. God is righteous. Not one person is righteous...except Jesus Christ, the Son, God in the flesh. God the Father requires payment for unrighteousness. That payment is spiritual separation from Him and eternal torment after physical death.

But Jesus came to earth to save people from this punishment...to make payment on behalf of anyone who would confess with their mouth that he is Lord and believe in their hearts that God raised him from the dead. He called this salvation being “born again”...a spiritual rebirth. He also promised to give disciples the Holy Spirit to help them do good works worthy of Christ.

Good works have nothing to do with achieving salvation. They only come after salvation. And they are part of the mission of every believer. That mission is to love God and love people by going and making disciples.

This perspective is informed by Scripture, specifically sourced from the translation of the English Standard Version
